Befores & Afters

Hi Ya'all!!! I hope you are enjoying this beautiful fall day! Below are my before's and after's of my first make-up party. Matt finished these a little while ago and I didn't know they were done! Silly me. :o) I will be posting my favorite pictures soon so you can see them first hand!

Jennylyn Billings <3

"Jodi has such a warm and fun personality. She is honest and fair and she can be trusted to fulfill her obligations as a business owner. She is very creative and knows how to perfect a variety of different makeup looks. Jodi has a passion for makeup and creativity, and for making you look more beautiful than you ever imagined." - Jennylyn

Briget Addison <3

"I had a wonderful time allowing Jodi to do my makeup. Even though we are friends, she was extremely professional. Even if I were "only" a client, she would have made me feel special. I let her be creative and do whatever she wanted to with my makeup. She created a look that I would have NEVER done on my own, but I LOVED it. She gave me a fun, very bold & smoky 'going out on the town' look. My husband thought it was HOT! I can't wait to have her do my makeup for a special occasion. Thanks, Jodi!" - Briget

My First Make-Up Party! ♥

On Saturday, September 12, I hosted my very first make-up party. It was so much fun! I had four girls come over so I could do their make-up and have a dear friend, Chad Martin, who is an awesome and very talented photographer take their pictures. I tried to do four different looks to get a variety for my portfolio and my blog, and hopefully my website soon. Click on the link below and check out the pix! The models: Trish (my mom), Briget, Liana and Jennylyn. Four beautiful women who took breathtaking pictures. Thank you again to my gorgeous models! I truly appreciate you taking the time (all day!!) to help me with my business!

My hubby, a graphic artist, is currently working on using these pictures for my business cards and also to put them directly on my blog (and website). We have been pretty busy the last few weeks so that is why the delay! I was so excited I wanted to do it as soon as I got the pictures from Chad. But in God's providence, I am just now posting the website's link, the pictures will hopefully come soon! Woo-hoo!!! :o)

Please leave a comment and tell me what you think! Or how you think I could improve! I would love to hear from you!!!

Have a wonderful day! Enjoy the autumn air! And smile and laugh as much as possible. Life is so much better when you are filled with joy! It's contagious you know :p

Xoxo's!

My First Wedding!

I did my first wedding!! Hooray! I was invited to help with the make-up for my friend Amy's wedding. I did the make-up for (4) bridesmaids. She had her wedding at a really neat bed and breakfast up in Idyllwild. It was so beautiful up there that day! There was such wonder and sparkles in the air! What a special day! And I was priveleged enough to be a part of it! I felt so special being able to be there and amidst all of the excited hopeful emotions. This day marked my hope for me becoming a make-up artist. I can't express how filled with joy I was to help out! It was so much fun and I was able to make people feel comfortable and to beautify them for such a special day! I had an absolute blast!! You know the feeling when you get when you start to see the Christmas decorations come into the stores? And you know that Christmas is approaching, with all of it's wonderful lights and everyone's spirit is filled with vibrant vitality? That was how I felt when I drove back home! I knew then that this was definitely something that I want to pursue and is something that I just love to do. ♥

Below are the Before's and After's of the (4) bridesmaids that I was privileged enough to beautify! ♥ The awesome graphics are designed by my hubby! (The photos have not been re-finished or re-touched.) Please leave a comment and tell me what you think!!

Tauna was awesome and wrote a blurb for my blog:

"Jodi is such a sweetheart! She does amazing work and is very professional. She came up to Idyllwild on relatively short notice to do makeup for 4 bridesmaids with only a couple of hours to do it in. Everyone looked great and the bride loved the natural looks that Jodi gave us. Having had my makeup done by plenty of Makeup Artists being a model, Jodi does an excellent job. She has a gentle touch and a great personality that you're sure to get along with." - Tauna Carson

Have a wonderful night filled with blessings & joy!

Funky :o)

Hiiiieeee!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day so far! And I hope that you enjoy our AWESOME 3-day Labor day weekend! <3

Okay, on Wednesday night, Matt stayed home from work because he had an awful migrane that put him down for the count. I stayed home from our Church's pot luck to be with him. When it got later, I decided to play with my make-up and see what I come up with. My intentions was to do the nautral eye look with the pop of bright red lips. Well.....below is what came out. It became an icy look. I have a lot of highlighter on my cheeks, chin, nose and forehead. I have a ton of white eyeliner underneath my eye that it actually coated my lashes...which looked super cool. Matt took pics of me and the look somewhat came through to the camera. It's different and I totally like it! Remember, this was at the end of the day and my foundation was a day old. Lol. But it worked! :D

Eyes: Natural-skin color, very soft shimmery eyeshadow
Thin black eyeliner line with a small thicker wing
White eyeliner- a ton! Inside my eyelid & underneath and pulled down a little and out to the black wing (triangle)
Silver glitter eyeliner on bottom lash line
Thick black mascara but only on the top lashes

Cheeks: Bronzer for contouring
Soft pinkish/brownish color on top & apples
Lots of highlighter on cheek bones

Lips: Icy light purple lipstick
White eyeshadow
Glossy light pinky/frosty lip gloss
Silve glitter eye liner around the lips to outline (not sure if I like that or not! looked cool in person though.

Beautiful Kara

My dear friend Kara came over this evening and allowed me to practice my make-up (bridal) application on her. Below are her pics! She looks gorgeous!! She always looks gorgeous but I just glammed her up a bit from her normal natural look. I am so thankful for her and her friendship! Thanks Kara! You're a ROCK STAR! :o)

Make-Up for Fun!

Hi everyone! :o)

Okay, Matt and I puppysat my parent's puppies this last weekend. He worked on Saturday and accidentally took my car keys with him. Sooo.....I was "kooped" up at my parents' house all day long! Which was fine because it was so hot that day. But if I was stuck at my house I could have at least gotten some chores done. So I took a nap, watched a movie, cuddled with the pups and played around with my make-up. I wanted to copy a look from a Maybelline make-up ad for their new line of pink lipsticks. I did copy it but with my own twist. I wanted my man to take pics and the model in him came out....so please excuse my cheesy modelling. I'm not a model but it was fun. The lighting didn't really capture all of the colors on my eyes but it was still fun! Afterwards, my hubs took me out to eat sushi! I was so excited to get out of the house and go on a fantabulous date with him. <3

~Enjoy!~

Pastor James & Jennylyn's Wedding Rehearsal

Matt and I were graciously invited to our dear friends, Pastor James’ and Jennylyn’s wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner last Thursday night, August 13th. The pictures below were taken by my handsome hubby before we headed over to our church. This look was just a simple dolled-up look using mineral eye shadow with lots of sparkle pigmentation. I also outlined my eye using a small black line with eyeliner, making it thicker out to the corner of my eye and then dark gray eye shadow to make the line thicker and more “poppy”. I did a little contouring of my cheeks using two different colored blushes. I have on clear lip gloss for these pictures but I actually finished my lips by putting on colored lip gloss and highlighters in the car. I love having my foundation be as natural looking as possible.

Welcome!

This is the very beginning of my fun adventures of becoming a make-up artist! My heart's passion is to make people feel good about themselves. I want them to know and feel that they are beautiful the way that God has created them. I love to paint make-up in such a way that it brings out their best inner qualities. I want to help their special selves to shine through with the make-up that I use! I want to make people feel and look radiantly glamorous! The eyes are definitely the window to a person's soul and it's my goal to make those babies pop! :o)

I'm just now starting out in this industry but it has been a love affair since my very first experience with Bonne Bell lip glosses when I was a little girl. My favorite was the cotton candy one. My goal is to start doing this just part time while I am working for my dad's design/build firm. I am looking to start doing make-up for weddings, photo shoots, special events: prom, senior pictures, etc. I'm just now starting to study and learn the business end of being a make-up artist. I'm a little intimidated by it all but I am so excited for the possibilities! I'm working on building up my make-up collection even more. Woo hoo!!! I love make-up. :o) I'm having an absolute blast and there are so many butterflies soaring with excitedment in my heart to do this!

My prayer is that God will bless this and guide me through this as I embark on this new endeavor. This definitely is a desire that He has placed on my heart to begin. ♥ And hopefully I will be able to move more towards being a make-up artist and be able to focus more on my home front and hubby.

So welcome to my passion that I am beginning to share with others and my journey in it!

Hugs & Kisses,
Jodi
