Success

If you don't believe in yourself and exude that confidence, how would anyone else believe that you are capable?

I'm a timid person when it comes to presenting my capabilities. I'm always afraid that they're going to think that I'm not good enough, that I'm not experienced enough, that I'm not...yadda yadda yadda. I realized that I'm quick to say that I'm not this....I'm not that....and then I get these weird looks that are both confused and a little annoyed. I am annoyed with myself at that point so I can't blame them.

I absolutely believe in myself and I know that I am fully capable to rock it. I love what I do and I believe I am talented (with still a lot to learn). I give my whole heart into everything that I do for both the make-up and modeling world. It is a passion of mine and I want to grow in, allowing it to be a very close part of my present and future.

BUT my insecurity is that someone will think of what I do as less than what I am fully able to do.  So I tell them before they can think it or realize it.  Lame I know! And I'm seriously shooting myself in the foot, hindering my walk in accomplishing my dreams. I have to look at myself and truly analyze what needs to change, to grow and to become better....all by the grace of God and His willingness to reflect in my eyes what He sees and wants to change.

***I need to stop being a timid little mouse****
Or I won't go anywhere.

I don't want to give the wrong impression to the people that I work with that I'm this huge professional: doing make-up and modeling my whole life. I'm not and haven't been. And I don't pretend to be either. But I make sure that they know it too before I do anything.  Unfortunately, I'm afraid that this mind set of showing what I'm not before they do is going to hold me back. Then an epiphany happened. A light bulb flickered in my little head of mine. No one is going to believe in me if I don't show them that I believe in myself. Period.

I will exude confidence, I will reflect the belief I have in myself, and I will shine from the passion within me. I will show them that I am fully capable and that I am a professional in my own right, working towards being the best that I can possibly be. I have a lot of dreams that I want to see come into reality and one of them is to become a truly working and professional model and make-up artist. Lord willing. And I want to work hard towards what I want no matter what obstacles lay in my way. Successful people didn't find success by stumbling across it. Success happened to those who worked hard and sacrificed to make it happen.

Always believe that you are beautiful because you are unique and there is no one else like you.

Always remember that no one will believe in you unless you believe in yourself.

Always fight for what you want and work your butt off to get it...laziness doesn't get you anywhere but to the road of compromise and regrets.

Always laugh from the depths of your soul and embrace every moment that is given to you for they are all gifts.

Always have as much fun as possible, even at the risk of getting weird and dirty looks from others. :)

And always....

Lara Fabian - Part of me

One of my favorite songs of all time. And by one of my favorite singers.

"Part Of Me"

Look in these eyes you'll see the dark
That little space inside my heart
The darkest side withholds the light
The light that brightens me inside
You don't know
Angels don't fly, they have no wings
It is another of those things
That we make up
That we believe
The real thing is not what we conceive

[Chorus:]
You don't know
I won't let you see me
I will hide, I will lie
As true as can be
You just don't have
What it would take
To be a part of me

These arms are my heart
These arms are my heart
These arms are my heart
These arms are my heart
The darkest side withholds the light
The light that shines
You can't deny

[Chorus]
These arms are my heart
These arms are my heart
These arms are my heart
These arms are my heart

Petal & Thorn

I recently modeled for a sweet and very talented friend, Kristin Brancaleone. She is the owner and creator of the The Treasured Petal, a very successful wedding florist company in Orange County. Kristin's heart and passion for flowers is amazing and has now transcended into unique, beautiful accessory creations that every girl who wants to feel prettier will want! Petal & Thorn is definitely a place to go to buy all your Christmas presents for all the girls in your life. Her creativity and attention to detail is astounding and the items are to die for!!! And I'm so happy and proud that she asked me to be the face of her first line. I'm on her website and all over her Etsy store. :) The shoot took about the whole day and I seriously did like a gazillion different looks. It was so much fun! The photographer, Marlin Munoz, did a great job and the images turned out beautiful.

Hope you enjoy! I'm very proud of these :)

Jackie Evancho (WOW!!!!) Such a cutie pie

Quick Recap of My Life

Well...since I have been horrible unproductive at writing in my blog, here's to a new start and hopefully more diligent in keeping up with it.  I know all of my 2 readers have to stay entertained in the life of Jodi. Haha. Modelling & Make-up posts to come! I PROMISE!

1. Our computer officially died and there was no recessitating it.  It was buried and gone, and hopefully with the new hard drive: a new creation.  Matt and I seriously were heartbroken and sick to our stomachs about what we have lost.  There were a ton of pictures that are now forever gone: vacations, date nights, modelling, make-up pics, family gatherings, etc. I also lost all of my poems that I wrote on my computer and not in my notebooks. We also lost Matt's graphic design work and editing for the past couple of years.  All gone. Bye-bye. To be forever in our hearts and memories and not on our hard-drive. So sad! But there is light at the end of the rainbow our computer was fixed by our friend Jaymen and we are slowly rebuilding our memories.  This time we are buying a back-up hard drive to hopefully avoid this in the future. TAKE THIS AS A WARNING to those who don't have one! Get one!!!

2.  Matt is starting to teach me how to ride his street bike! And let me tell you - I AM IN LOVE!  It wasn't as scary as I thought it was going to be. By my third time on the bike, I was pushing throttle, topped off at 30mph, and was leaning into turns (only around our block mind you. Lol.)  I'm proud if I do say so myself! Now I'm driving around the neighborhood with no fear and the fastest I have gone is about 40mph. It has come pretty naturally to me but there is still a ton to learn. It is a dangerous sport and I want to master it.  Hopefully, I will be able to buy a brand new bike like his but prettier (see below)  hehehe.....maybe if I bat my eyes and say pretty please?!  I'm going o go take my motorcycle permit test on Monday so wish me luck! Because it's definitely time for me to get on the road and actually get into 2nd gear :)

3.  I was in my first Fashion Show this last Sunday and I have to say, it was SO MUCH FUN! I have met so many amazing people there and am excited for future events. I will post more on this later as a separate post.  Now that things in our lives are beginning to settle down from the whirlwind of pure craziness that has been our lives, I'm going to start focusing on modelling opportunities more.

I will be working on blog posts in the coming weeks so be on the look out for more posts! I still have a ton of shoots to blog about and hopefully I have the pictures of them.

Xoxo's!

Animals

I l.o.v.e. animals. I always have since I was a little girl. I used to rescue birds, lady bugs, puppies, butterflies, kitties, anything that I thought needed my help. I used to gather lady bugs and put them in a plastic container with just plants. I never knew that they ate bugs until after Matt and I got married. I always wondered why they died so quickly. I even ran a dog rescue where I had about 14 dogs total, including 7 puppies. I would take dogs off of the streets, nurse them back to health if needed, and then I would screen calls for future families. :) That was fun. I don't want to do that again but it was definitely worth it then. A lot of families got wonderful pets.

One of my favorite things to do is go to zoos, Sea World, etc. Thankfully, my husband shares in this passion. When we went to Sea World this last December, I cried during the Dog & Cat show because I was so excited. I know I'm weird but I truly get emotional over things that I have a love for.

Matt loves dolphins. I love big cats. His are intelligent and sleek. Mine are independent and graceful. His are playful and extraordinary. Mine are beautiful and powerful. His are gentle and family-oriented. Mine are dangerous and alluring. His are amazing. Mine will eat you. :)

I also love pot-bellied pigs, horses, exotic birds, vipers, cats and dogs. But that's the short list.

Right now, Matt and I have a total of (5) animals. Bullet, our German Shepherd that I rescued last summer. Snickers, our Himalayan that we got at the animal shelter. And (2) tortoises and (1) water turtle. These next few pictures are of my little people pets. I have to remind our moms that this is it as far as grandchildren go for a little while longer. :) They don't mind. They love their animals as much as we love ours.

Me....

This is me. Most of the time. Seriously. :)

Me having fun on the 1930's Hollywood Glam photo-shoot. Laughing & enjoying the moment.

Juneberry Photography 4.13.10

I'm so thankful for the people that I meet in this industry. They are blessings in so many different ways. Especially Jessie Kenney. She was the hairstylist who contacted me to model for the Avant Garde Hairstyle photo-shoot in February. She has now started her own photography business, Juneberry Photography and she is really talented! She is a natural lighting photographer and I hope she suceeds!!! Jessie is great with the camera and with all of her ideas and cuteness, people will just fall in love with her and her skill! Jessie has the cutest quote for her business:

"You are you. That is truer than true. There is no one alive that is youer than you."- Dr. Seuss

Love it! How adorable is that? Now she is able to capture those moments that emphasize who you are and the moments in life that are precious. Jessie is also a very talented hairdresser and is becoming a fantastically great photographer! And it helps that she's cute as a button.

Matt and I really enjoyed our evening with her! We laughed, moved furniture, dug some holes, tackled each other, and just had a good time. So grateful to have met her and hopefully we can work with her again in the future. I love the opportunity to work with Matt, being able to showcase and emulate the love that we have for each other in pictures. :) One of my favorites things.

Enjoy the pictures!

I LOVE THESE PICTURES!!!!!!

One. Of. The. Best. Pictures. Ever.
Me literally jumping into Matt - taking both of our breaths away. Matt told me that I didn't have to tackle him like a linebacker. :) Jessie captured at the moment of impact. I can be so graceful sometimes. Lol!

Totally Rockin' Out

While I'm typing blogs and updating my port's....I'm totally blasting my Itunes. :)

One of my favorites is this song by the Pussycat Dolls:

Enjoy! <3

Molly Williams - Lifestyle Shoot - 3.28.10

On Sunday, March 28th, Matt and I drove out to Leucadia, Ca and met the most talented photographers, Molly Williams. She attended the Jasmine Star's Photography Workshop on February 12th. Molly had some of the most amazing images from that day. We figured out that she lived close to us and we contacted her to set up a tfcd shoot! We were ecstatic when she accepted.

Molly is just the cutest and sweetest thing ever. Her husband, Jeremy, joined us for the shoot as well. And so did Bullet. :) We all had a blast together!! We laughed and totally enjoyed the day. After the shoot, we decided to eat at a sushi restaurant on Pacific Highway. After Jeremy officially stuffed his face full of as much sushi as he could get his hands on, we decided that we were going to do a double date again sometime soon. It's rare when you are able to find a couple that you feel like you've been friends forever with. We are grateful to have met them and to hopefully become great friends with! I felt so comfortable with her as we shot...which says a lot about her. She's down to earth, real and beautiful. Her heart is precious.

Molly is definitely talented and her dreams are to be a successful high-end wedding photographer. She has the skills to take her there and I wish her the best of luck! I absolutely *LOVE* the pictures that she took of me. Her exposure, angling and editing are so complimentary. Molly uses the natural lighting (no reflectors, no flash etc) that the Lord has provided. I hope you love the pictures as much as I do. :)

I did my own make-up, hair & wardrobe. :)
